A Lesson on American Fashion

Now that the dust has settled, meaning all of our social media platforms being bombarded with opinions on this year’s Met Gala looks, we thought we would do a quick-fire round with Bunny and Kailyn on their thoughts on some of this year’s noteworthy moments. Although their answers are brief, a few words can really pack a punch, let’s see what they had to say.

Look 1: Billie Eilish in Oscar de la Renta

Bunny: I loved this look. It’s pretty and very feminine which is kind of different than what Ms. Eilish usually goes for. I read that she was channeling Marilyn Monroe and I think she nailed it.

Kailyn: I love it too - the color of the gown and the dramatic shoulders and train really do it for me. I also love her new blonde hair style. It’s all very classic American cinema and she pulled it off beautifully and gracefully.

Look 2: Jennifer Lopez in Ralph Lauren

Kailyn: Jennifer Lopez is such a beautiful woman but this look didn’t do it for me. I feel like the interpretation of the theme is too literal here and I just wasn’t crazy about the styling - what do you think?

Bunny: I think I agree with you Kailyn. I didn’t know this was Ralph Lauren but besides that I think the cowboy idea is very American but I wasn’t too crazy about the interpretation either.

Look 3: Lupita Nyong’O in Versace

Bunny: I was surprised I didn’t see more people in denim! Denim to me is so classic American style so I loved this look. Leave it up to Versace to make denim so fashionable and chic.

Kailyn: I love the sleek part of this dress. I love the take on denim here but I’m just not so crazy about the puffy train part of this look but Lupita is so fashion forward and can really pull anything off, she looked beautiful.

Look 4: Tracee Ellis Ross in Balenciaga

Kailyn: Okay Bunny, here’s your girl! I know you love Tracee and I think she’s done it again in this Balenciaga number. I love the hair and the makeup and I’m obsessed and mesmerized by this blue!

Bunny: I love her style so much. She is so creative and has such a good sense of style that isn’t really replicated. This look is so simple but I love the color, the hair and the silhouette of this gown? Dress? Robe? Looks comfy whatever it is.

Look 5: Emily Blunt in Miu Miu

Bunny: There’s something so soft and gentle about Emily Blunt and I feel like this gown is so ethereal. I love the shimmer and sparkle and I absolutely love the crown of stars. I feel like it's a take on the Statue of Liberty and very creative.

Kailyn: I think it is a take on Lady Liberty! I don’t know for sure but now that you said that, I see it. I really like this look too. It’s very regal and Emily Blunt seems like such a sweetheart and she really pulled this theme off well.

Bunny: Well, I guess that’s it for this round of Met Gala reviews, I’m already curious about next year’s theme but this year had some phenomenal looks, really.

Kailyn: This year was a special one for sure! It’s always a pleasure talking fashion with you Bunny!
