Bardessono - Idyllic Weekend Getaway

Well, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Literally. We spent the weekend trying to think of ways to escape the heat, although we are thankful for the sun these days, and to spend some intimate one-on-one time with the one we love. Living in the Bay Area we are cursed with a first-world problem. You see the issue is, there are endless options in this beautiful place we call home, there are so many that it’s hard to narrow it down as to where to head to for a rejuvenating weekend. So, we took a tour out of our familiar area and took a gamble (although not really a gamble, did you read the quote?) and headed out to Yountville for some much needed R&R.

Bardessono, doesn’t it just roll off the tongue? Well, it rests in the rolling hills of the Napa Valley and it's a great place to seek relaxation, rejuvenation and some good ol’ fresh air. Planning a reservation alone can be a bit daunting. Bardessono boasts three different villas that can be enjoyed alone or with a few guests as well as numerous suites. The amenities alone in these quarters would make one leave the city in a heartbeat just to experience the four poster king-size beds, 65” TV’s in all rooms, fireplaces, 6-person dining tables and of course, the priceless views of wine country. Don’t believe us? We have pictures to prove it, but if you’re still not sold by this point, feel free to take a free 3-D tour of the suites and villas on the Bardessono website.

So, we’ve checked in and changed and freshened up. What’s on the agenda for the day? Should we take it slow with our indulgences and enjoy a morning swim in the rooftop pool? Or should we enjoy a hot stone and cold mud treatment at the Bardessono “B” Spa? It was hard to decide, so we decided to take the day and do both. A refreshing swim in the cool, clear and crisp water in the fresh air absolutely left us exhausted. Can you sense the boasting in our tone? We can’t help it! Let us enjoy our weekend away at this exceptional getaway of a resort. To finish our day we dine at Lucy, the resident dining experience at Bardessono. We made a reservation for two for a private dining experience. What we loved about Lucy, was that every dish is made farm-to-table. The ingredients are guaranteed local and therefore fresh and delivered the most intense flavors.

“Bardessono, where earth meets sky, people meet souls, and function meets form. Here, you can breathe deeply and be with nature’s clarity. Couples come to rejuvenate, friends come to strengthen the bond, and animal companions come along to enhance your time. This is your place to spa, to walk gardens, to immerse in views and to taste the wine. Experience Bardessono.”

For our next day of activities we decided to enjoy a wine cave tour at Bardesonno’s partner hotel, Silver Trident Hotel. The hotel prides itself, and we did as well, on their decorum. Every inch of this place is Ralph Lauren Home, meaning we enjoyed sipping wine on leather high-back chairs and watched the breeze willow through the ceiling-to-floor white linen curtains. At the Silver Trident there are two wine tasting options, the Perfect Pairings and the 100 Mile Dairy. The 100 Mile Dairy wasn’t available at the time of our booking so we went with the Perfect Pairings which lasted about an hour and we sampled five wines from the Napa Valley that were paired with canapes that were prepared by award winning chefs from the region.

Now you’re probably wondering what a weekend like this would set you back. It's a valid inquiry. What’s great is that the villas and suites can be made to be enjoyed individually, with another guest or even for groups. Whereas we escaped to Bardessono with one other loved one we can’t wait to plan a girl’s trip to stay in a villa and split costs among the group. We’re already imagining arriving with our girls, relaxing at the spa and getting into trouble because we’re indulging in more than one wine tour on our weekend. A group experience makes the price points completely reasonable and that much more memorable...granted we don’t drink too much sauvignon and can remember the times we had lounging by the pool and taking advantage of turn-down service. What do you think? Does Bardessono sound like the ideal getaway now that we’ve bragged about all the fun we had? If it does, we suggest you quickly reserve your suite or your villa because as the warm weather is coming to a close, reservations are booking fast. Don’t forget to bring your SPF and have your Instagram filters on deck because you’re going to want to document and flaunt the time you had to your girlfriends (or even your partner) that didn’t make the cut on your trip to Bardessono.
