Black and White...For Spring?

Paris Fashion Week has all the insider tips and previews on what’s going to be big for this season and it looks like black and white are the colors of Spring and potentially summer. Usually we would think these colors would be appropriate for winter or even fall but the fashion gods have spoken and they have other plans for this color palette. So, how do we style these monochromatic colors for spring anyways?

Mixing and matching patterns seems to be the easy way to go. We think this is a great way to add some interest and depth to your black and white outfit. For example, try pairing a black and white striped shirt with a polka dot skirt or a floral jacket. The key is to keep the patterns in the same color family to avoid clashing. We know black and white is the palette we’re working with but we can add some color too, right?

Combining different textures is another great way to create a unique and interesting look. Try pairing a white lace top with black leather pants or a black and white tweed jacket with a white cotton skirt. The key is to balance the textures so that the outfit doesn't become overwhelming and you know we are all about balance and texture. Finally, another easy way to ace this trend? Accessories! A black and white pump or even some classic Adidas sneakers paired with black and white patterned scarves and jewelry are easier ways to try out this trend for size. And don’t forget about all of the great handbags and purses that have great geometrical and sculptural shapes in these two colors as well. What do you think about this very literal black and white approach to spring? Yay or nay? Let us know your thoughts and if you’ll be trying it out.
