Spring Hairstyles

An easy way to reinvent yourself or drastically change your look is to change your hair. Whether it’s a cut, color or some added extensions or even a simple change in the way you care for your hair, you can easily transform the way you look and feel. Of course committing to the big chop can be intimidating because it’s a huge commitment that isn’t as easily undone as buying a new pair of shoes or experimenting with a new shade of lipstick, however there are a lot of new exciting hair trends that could potentially inspire you the next time you make an appointment at the salon.

One trend that we can’t ignore is the super bob. It’s like an acute version of the usual bob haircut that ends right below the ear lobes or just above the shoulder. It feels modern and contemporary and celebrities such as Hailey Beiber and Kourtney Kardashian have been true pioneers of the style. This look seems to be the “fresh start” hair style that is just in time for the summer heat and when done just right is great for contouring your face.

Another trend that isn’t completely a shocker or brand new but is here to stay is the blow out. We all remember around this time last year how tools like the Revlon blow out brush or the DryBar brush and of course the Dyson styler had us all in a chokehold. Well, the good news is all of your money was well spent because big blown out hair is here to stay. For those of you with long locks this is great news if you aren’t in the market for the “super” bob hair cut. And whether you’re using a blow out tool like the Dyson or using rollers and your blow dryer this is a style that you can achieve in the comfort of your own home with the right products and practice. Plus, blowouts can last up to multiple days with the right care and attention and we love that.

In terms of hair color it seems there’s an upward trend in returning to lighter locks. This last year we saw a lot of utilitarian styles and colors that were rigid and hard but it seems this summer lighter locks of reds and blondes and highlights are here to stay. We’re also predicting the return of natural grays and instead of covering them up we’re adding highlights to compliment them and welcome them into our natural hair color. Stars like Andie MacDowell have really been championing their natural graying process and we think she looks gorgeous so we predict that many other women will be following suit and embracing their gray hairs.

Will you be trying any new hair trends this summer? It seems like summer rather than the first of the year is the real time we all want to debut a new hair look. We have vacations and beach trips and we want to try something new, clean and fresh. Something that really says: summer! So, are you getting the big cut and color or are you going to dust off that blow out brush and hair dryer? Let us know which trends you will or won’t be trying this summer. Happy styling!
