How To Achieve Mermaid Style In Time For Summer
With the looming release and multiple world premieres of the new Little Mermaid movie, we’ve noticed that mermaid style is quickly becoming a popular trend among Hollywood. It seems only last month stars were enraptured by Barbie core style but this month we’re trading hot pink for turquoise and sequins. Here’s some of our personal tips for mastering mermaid style or as stylists are saying, “mermaid core.” Oh boy, here we go again.
When we think of mermaids we think of their reflective tail, right? Reflecting light and water creates a shimmering effect and that’s what we want to tie into our mermaid-esque look. Adding pieces with glitter, shimmer and even silver and gold reflective discs are great details to consider.
Taking a cue from starlets who hit the red carpet for the movie premiere we also saw a lot of sleek silhouettes that resemble, well, a mermaid. Long sleek sleeves with bell silhouettes, long satin maxi skirts and body hugging dresses, halter tops and of course crochet and woven cutout detailing as well.
