Spooky Chic

Halloween is just around the corner and if you’re anything like us then you probably have yet to choose your fabulous costume. Does the perfect costume exist? Well, we like to draw inspiration from books, movies and even television for easy inspiration as to who we will masquerade as for this animated holiday. Choosing a character to dress up as isn't just about the clothing or the makeup and hairstyle you wear but it also allows us to embody a completely different person for the day and we have a few easy go-to costume ideas that you probably already have hanging in your closet.

Our first go-to is such a cliche but it’s a classic for a reason: Rosie the Riveter. Guaranteed, many from today’s Gen Z group may be clueless to the costume choice, but in our book Rosie is an icon and an easy look to throw together. All you need is a denim shirt with quarter way rolled up sleeves, a bandana to throw your hair up in a chic bun and embody that ferociously feminine can-do attitude. Another similar, although maybe not as empowering costume is Cindy Crawford from that iconic Pepsi ad. For this one find your shortest denim shorts, a white tank and get that Dyson blowout brush for larger than life hair. Then grab you a can of the equally iconic Pepsi and you’re good to go.

Another classic costume is Holly Golightly who was portrayed by Audrey Hepbun in Breakfast at TIffany’s. You could either do her chic pajama look which consists of an oversized men’s white shirt and turquoise sleeping mask and chandelier earrings or the more iconic costume: a little black dress, pearls and a dramatic up-do. Either one is recognizable by any generation and sure to garner some compliments. Our final suggestion is another strong female character and that’s Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. This mother of dragons is still being idolized, especially from the spinoff series “House of Dragon.” So how to pull this one off? Search your closet for a silver or blue dress, a platinum wig and if you have any miniature dragon figurines you can get your hands on, this would really seal the deal.

Any of these ideas sound appealing? Let us know what you think of our last minute suggestions and what your Halloween costume pick is this year. Trick or treat!
