The Smelly Truth

Let's face it, nobody likes to stink, and most of us reach for our go-to deodorants to keep that under control. But as we become more aware of the ingredients in our personal care products, there's been a rising interest in natural deodorants. So, should you make the switch? Here's a closer look at the pros and cons to help you decide.

Pros of Using Natural Deodorants:

One of the biggest appeals of natural deodorants is their ingredient list. They often claim to be free of harmful substances such as aluminum compounds and synthetic fragrances. And these ingredients included in unnatural deodorants not only protect against odor but actual sweat production which sounds unnatural (and it is) but this is the “pros' ' list. For those of you looking to minimize our exposure to potentially harmful chemicals, this can be a game-changer. Natural deodorants typically work by neutralizing odor rather than blocking sweat, allowing your body to naturally regulate its temperature. It's a breath of fresh air for those who appreciate a more holistic approach to body care. That said, the decision to switch to natural deodorants ultimately comes down to your values and whether these products meet your unique needs. Especially if you have easily swollen lymph nodes or are breastfeeding, these deodorants are great.

Cons of Using Natural Deodorants:

However, it's not all sunshine and roses with natural deodorants and we’re not just referring to smell. (Lol). One common drawback and complaint is their limited sweat and odor control. So conventional antiperspirants that often keep you feeling dry all day, natural deodorants may have you sweating a bit more, which can be uncomfortable, not just to you but potentially those around you as well. We say that with a tone of humor. Especially during physical activities or hot weather when unnatural weather would call for unnatural deodorant. But more than that, they may require more frequent reapplication, which can frankly be annoying and a hassle for people with hectic schedules and forgetful minds.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there is a transition period. Some have noted experiences with an adjustment phase when switching to natural deodorants. During this time, your body might take a while to get used to the new ingredients, and that could mean a few days of not feeling as fresh as you'd like. But you have to ultimately weigh the pros and cons (as we have) and see what matters more to you. So, are you a natural deodorant girlie or are you sticking with that 72-hour Degree deodorant stick? Let us know your thoughts.
