As we step into the new chapter, i.e. the new year, we are already witnessing an emergence of new trending styles. Last year we were bombarded with trends that were coming out of the woodworks left and right. So much so, that it was hard to reinvent our wardrobe every month with pink hues a la Barbie core and ballet flats and bows a la ballet and cottage core. But enough mentioning those trends of the past and on to looking at the future trends of fashion. As we embark on an exhilarating journey of discovering innovative designs and revolutionary concepts not explored before, it’s time yet again to redefine our wardrobes and discover territory unknown. Avant-garde runway exhibitions and a close watch on streetwear style, we are eager to indulge in new inspirations the new year and new fashion season has to offer. Staying ahead of the curve is crucial in the ever changing realm of fashion and style, so here are two new trends we’re keeping a close eye on in these first few months of the new year.
One trend we are curious to see develop is the emergence of cowboy or should we say, cowgirl style. A fun remix of ranch hand style that has been recently pioneered by none other than Beyonce herself. With her release of two new singles that are inspired with country music themes, has she single handedly started a new trend? Laden with cowboy hats and stirrups on thigh high boots paired with Swarovski crystals and leather and lace, this country trend has proven to be a dynamic duo incorporating glam and rugged styling. The key to nailing this new trend? Finding a delicate balance between rustic charm and modern sophistication. Try juxtaposing tailored blazers, and luxe fabrics such as velvet or leather and pairing them with suede bottoms or classic denim. Finish off this look with bigger and bolder accessories such as crystal layered necklaces and statement rings. And when it comes to shoes try leather stiletto boots and platform heels or go the traditional country way and pair a chic cowboy boot to finish off this look.
The second trend we’ve seen dominate the runways as of late is prep school style. This isn’t a new trend, but rather something we’ve seen before circa 2021, however this feels and looks more elevated. Miu Miu has been the first, to our knowledge, to pioneer this trend with navy and khaki structured blazers paired with their iconic micro mini skirts. Interested in achieving this Ivy League look yourself? Start with the basics: crisp basics and tailored silhouettes such as a well-fitted button down paired with a classic cable knit sweater in neutral colors such as navy, white or camel. Then experiment with different textures and layers such as a tweed jacket or a silk blouse. You might want to consider a chic pair of black loafers but remix them in a platform style or a pair of slingback pumps with white socks.
