Try This To Preserve Your Blowout

I think we’ve all seen the Instagram Reels and TikToks about the new Dyson Blowout Brush, which I talked about in our Mother’s Day article. Beyond that, blowouts have been a thing for a long while before this tool made waves online. The thing that always frustrated me about getting a blowout in a salon or even doing it on my own at home was that it always looked so good that day but then when I would wake up the next day, it would be totally messed up. It wouldn’t be as sleek or as voluminous but rather flat and frizzy. There had to be a way to preserve my blowout beyond one single day and I was determined to figure it out and guess what? I did just that. Here are my three tips to help you preserve your blowout beyond just one day.

1. Hair Wraps

It’s very important that when we go to sleep the night after we’ve done our blowout that we wrap our hair so that we can maintain that smoothness and the volume. I like to use either a hair scarf or even a scrunchie to sleep in so that in the morning my hair isn’t suddenly frizzy and lifeless. I really like this Firmament scrunchie and this En Liberte hair scarf from Alexandre De Paris to help maintain my blowout at night. If you can’t get your hands on one of these items, then even a braid or a low ponytail or loose bun is good too.

2. Hair Oil

Now I know that we can sometimes be a bit weary of using hair oil on our post-blowout hair because we want to avoid having stringy, oily hair. However, using a small amount of hair oil on the middle and the ends of our hair can really help combat frizz and give us those shiny locks that we had right after our blowout. I suggest using a dry hair oil spray or even one of your favorite serums for the same effect. Trust me on this one and you won’t regret it.

3. No Touching

Often when our hair is so shiny and smooth we want to constantly touch it and play with it. This is a huge no-no. Leave your hair alone! The more we touch our hair and swing it around and flip it over, then the more frizz we are creating and volume we are losing. I know it’s hard but believe it or not this is the number one contributing factor to why your blowout isn’t looking as great as it did once you put down your styling tools. Trust me, if you follow these three tips, your blowout will be looking as good as it did on day one, on day two, three, four...you get the idea. Happy styling and good luck!
