Brocade Code
Brocade is back, but it isn’t waiting for a formal invitation.
Once reserved for evening gowns, grand occasions and perhaps the occasional palace, this richly woven fabric is finding its way into everyday wardrobes.
The new approach feels less ceremonial and much more relaxed: a brocade jacket with jeans, an ornate skirt with a simple knit, or embellished flats peeking out beneath tailored trousers.
The secret is contrast. Let one beautifully detailed piece be the center of attention, then surround it with clothes that feel clean and effortless. Denim, crisp cotton, black trousers and simple tanks keep brocade looking modern instead of overly dressed.
And there’s no need to save it for nighttime. Deep jewel tones and antique metallic threads look especially beautiful in natural daylight, when all that texture can really be appreciated.
A little extravagant? Absolutely. But when the rest of the outfit stays quiet, brocade feels less like dressing for a grand entrance—and more like making an ordinary Wednesday considerably more interesting.
